It can be daunting going to a church service for the first time or after having been away for a long while. We try to make our Sunday services as welcoming and understandable to the newcomer as we can.

We have a very broad range of worship going on every Sunday and during the week in our three churches. For more practical information about these services visit the Our Three Churches page.  You might also want to see the weekly news sheet for any alterations or additions to the usual run of services

We hope the summary below helps explain a little of what you can expect to happen at any of our Sunday services.

St Mary, Aldingbourne

St Mary’s worship has a modern, unfussy feel.  Hymns are sung and a sermon is preached by one of our clergy team.  Communion is celebrated every Sunday and all are welcome to receive it.  There are refreshments served after the service at the back of church.

Accessibility

The church is fully accessible to wheelchair users via the west door. There is a hearing loop for the hard of hearing and large print orders of service and hymn books available.  There are also toilet and kitchen facilities at St Mary’s.

St Mary, Barnham

Barnham church celebrates all the rich symbolism of the modern catholic tradition.  The main act of worship is the Mass and there are servers, a robed choir and weekly use of incense.  Hymns are sung, a sermon is preached and generous refreshments are enjoyed at the back of church after the service, often spilling out into the idyllic country churchyard. There are currently no toilet facilities at Barnham Church, however, we do have use of facilities in a nearby house.

Accessibility

The church is accessible (across a grassed area) to wheelchair users. There is a hearing loop for the hard of hearing and large print orders of service and hymn books available.

St George, Eastergate

St George’s proximity to the local church school and it’s place in the centre of Eastergate has meant that the congregation is full of young families as well as the less young worshipper too!  The worship is simple and inclusive, often tailored for all ages, balanced with traditional Prayer Book services too.  Communion is shared every Sunday (except on family service days), hymns are sung and a sermon preached.  Refreshments are served from the vestry.

Accessibility

There are toilet facilities and a kitchen.  The church is fully accessible to wheelchair users. There is a hearing loop for the hard of hearing and large print orders of service and hymn books available.

Activities for Children

There is excellent worship provision for our children at both Barnham and Eastergate churches.  For more information click HERE

Can someone show me around?

Would you like to come to church but don't want to come by yourself? Or do you just want someone to show you around? Then we can provide someone to help.

We are very keen that everybody who comes through the doors at ABE gets welcomed and looked after so we offer the opportunity to arrange in advance for someone to meet you when you arrive and look after you during your Sunday with us.

Please fill out the form to the right if you would like this to happen.

BE GREETED THIS SUNDAY
